From Simple to Complex and Ultra-complex Systems: A Paradigm Shift Towards Non-Abelian Systems Dynamics - I C. Baianu and Roberto Poli
Atoms, molecules, organisms distinguish layers of reality because of the causal links that govern their behavior, both horizontally (atom-atom, molecule-molecule, organism-organism) and vertically (atom-molecule-organism). This is the first intuition of the theory of levels. Even if the further development of the theory will require imposing a number of qualifications to this initial intuition, the idea of a series of entities organized on different levels of complexity will prove correct...

Variable Automata as Discrete Descriptions of Homeostasis, Morphogenesis, Cognition and Autopoiesis in Organismic Networks - I. C. Baianu, Ph.D.
The question of a variable `automaton', or an automaton with a varying internal structure goes back to Norbert Wiener's suggestion in his book on ``The Human Use of Human Beings" (Cybernetics and Society, 1954). However, in his popular book, Wiener did not attempt any formal, or mathematical, definition of a `variable automaton'. Because the state space S of a standard, rigid automaton (or sequential machine/Turing machine) is known to have a semigroup (or monoid) structure, one may consider as ...

The interaction of Fe thin layers between MgO(100)-MgO and MgO(100)-Ag surfaces. - I. Dézsi, Cs. Fetzer, and F. Tanczikó, J. Korecki, T. Kobayashi, A. Nakanishi
The atomic interaction and magnetic properties of ultrathin Fe films grown on cleaved and polished MgO(100) surfaces were studied by conversion electron Müssbauer spectroscopy (CEMS)in broad temperature range. Fe with different layer thickness was deposited on MgO substrates. The layers were formed on polished and cleaved substrate surfaces at RT. The analysis of the spectra showed no Fe-O2â interaction in the MgO/Fe interface...

Natural Coordination System - NCS - I. Hadjidakis
In order to build a reasonable model of our environment one of the first thinks we have to fulfill is to use a reference system our model is to build in. Since 1637 when René Descartes proposed the so called “Cartesian Coordination System”, scientists used this with only few alternatives (spherical and cylindrical systems) for special cases. In this essay some undesirable properties of this system have been shown and a new system called “Natural Coordination System” (NCS) is proposed...

The logic stretch that Relativity has imposed was caused by the alteration of lengthperception that Einstein forced to introduce in order to accommodate time in a four dimensional orthogonalmanifold. Because no space and time can be both at once “absolute”, Einstein changed both definitions inorder to keep light’s velocity - that was derived by space and time - invariant. This was a mistake in logic...

The AC behavior of the nano-crystallite PT ceramic sample was studied in wide temperature and frequency ranges. The results show diffuse phase transition and a positive temperature coefficient of resistivity (PTCR) was observed in the temperature dependence of the ceramic resistivity. The results are explained based on the Heywang and Jonker models. The Schottky barrier formed at grain boundary regions act as traps of the electrons available from oxygen vacancies in the ceramics...

The Monte-Carlo Method (Little Mathematics Library) - I. M. Sobol
Everybody had at some moment used the words âprobabilityâ and ârandom variableâ. The intuitive idea of the probability (considered as frequency) corresponds more or less to the true meaning of this concept. But as a rule the intuitive idea of the random variable differs quite considerably from the mathematical definition. Thus, the notion of the probability is assumed known in Sec. 2, and only the more complicated notion of the random variable is clarified...
